The First Night 2008 button incorporated the work of photographer Mike Ritter, 27, of Dorchester. The button design was implemented by Doug Chapman of Kelliher Samets Volk - Boston, First Night’s Creative Communications Firm, and Scott Woolwine.
Mike Ritter has been working as a freelance photographer in Boston for three years. His personal work is ironic, humorous street photography which he exhibits at local art shows. Professionally, he shoots events for area schools and businesses. He takes an annual trip to shoot pro bono for an organization he wants to help. Most recently, he was in Guatemala shooting for Safe Passage which helps provide education for children living near the Guatemala City dump. Said Ritter, "Boston has become home. I love the small town feel and the wonderful people I've met here over the past couple years. Each day, I want to get to know the city better and be an active resident who gives back. Being chosen for the First Night button is a huge honor and I'm very flattered to be part of Boston's biggest party."
